Minerals are formed naturally by geological processes.

Lithium

Is an element valuable for the production of glass, aluminum products, and batteries. It is mined from ores of petalite LiAl(Si2O5)2, lepidolite K(Li,Al)3(Al,Si,Rb)4O10(F,OH)2, spodumene LiAl(SiO3)2 and also subsurface brines.

Manganese

Is a gray-white metal with a pinkish tinge, and is very brittle, but hard. Manganese easily reacts with water and air. On Earth, manganese is never found as a free metal, but it is found in a number of minerals.

Pollucite

Is a rare zeolite mineral, chemically (Cs,Na)₂Al₂Si₄O₁₂·2H₂O, prized as the primary ore for cesium, a vital "space-age" element, and sometimes rubidium, found mainly in lithium-rich granitic pegmatites.

Phosphorus

Is naturally occurring salts containing the tetrahedral phosphate anion (PO₄³⁻), crucial for life and industry, with apatite (like fluorapatite) being the most common, forming the basis for most phosphate rock mined for fertilizers.

Iron ore

Are hematite, magnetite, goethite, limonite, and siderite, with hematite and magnetite being the most economically important due to their high iron content, used to produce steel. These minerals form rocks like banded iron formations.
